Angel Taylor Interview: New Single "Speak", Upcoming Performance, Possible Trin-i-tee 5:7 Reunion & More

Angel Taylor formerly of the Chart-topping, Stellar and Dove Award-winning and Grammy nominated Contemporary Gospel group Trin-i-tee 5:7 ("Over and Over", "Listen", "God's Grace") returns with her debut solo single "Speak" available on all streaming platforms.

I caught up with Angel Taylor for an Exclusive Interview to discuss the single, her recent Stellar Awards appearance, a possible Trin-i-tee 5:7 reunion and much more.

TERRANCE: First, congratulations on the release of your debut single "Speak". Tell us about what inspired it.

ANGEL TAYLOR: Sure! First of all I love the original song, "Speak To My Heart" by Donnie McClurkin. I literally grew up singing that song with my church choir. So when I heard the music, which was a mash-up of traditional gospel and 90's R&B/Hip Hop, I instantly fell in love with the song.

TERRANCE: Can we expect any visuals for the song anytime soon?

ANGEL TAYLOR: Absolutely! I can't wait for you to see the "Speak" video, which is coming very soon! But in the meantime, you can check out the lyric video for "Speak" streaming now on my Youtube channel, Love Angel Taylor.

TERRANCE: Are singles your focus at the moment or is there an EP or album in works?

ANGEL TAYLOR: Both. We have some EPs coming out, and then we will have an album that we've been working on to release. I'm very excited to share what I've been creating with the world.

TERRANCE: You recently attended the 37th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards. What was that like to be back out there amongst industry peers and friends?

ANGEL TAYLOR: It felt great to be back in that space. It had been a while, so it felt like a bit of a reunion. I was happy to share the things that I've been working on with everyone there.

TERRANCE: Who were you most excited to see perform?

ANGEL TAYLOR: I really enjoyed Doe's performance.

TERRANCE: And speaking of performing, can we expect any upcoming shows, events or tour dates?

ANGEL TAYLOR: We definitely have some things in the works. I will be performing at City Winery in Atlanta on September 18th, along with some other great artists.

TERRANCE: I know you hear it a lot, but will there be a Trin-i-tee 5:7 reunion of some sort in the future?

ANGEL TAYLOR: It's possible! *sung in my Whitney Houston, fairy-godmother voice* *laughs*. On a serious note, I'm always open to that possibility.

TERRANCE: If the opportunity presented itself for Trin-i-tee 5:7 to do Verzuz, would you be opened to it?

ANGEL TAYLOR: Sure, why not!

TERRANCE: Overall, what do you hope listeners take away from "Speak"?

ANGEL TAYLOR: First of all, I hope that they connect with some aspect of it, whether it's the melody, the lyrics, the beat or just the general vibe of the song. The greater intention is that it opens up a channel for the listener to hear from God.

TERRANCE: Are there any final words you would like to share with your fans, followers and the readers?

ANGEL TAYLOR: I want to thank the people who have supported my group and I throughout the years. I am so grateful for you all. And to those who are newcomers as well as those who are recently becoming familiar with my music. I can't wait to share this musical journey with you!
