RIAA: Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" Album Is Certified Diamond

The Legendary King of Pop Michael Jackson earns a new certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for his breakout fifth solo album Off the Wall for 10 million units sold in the U.S.

Originally released in August of 1979 via Epic Records, Off the Wall peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart and topped the Billboard Top Black Albums chart and includes the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (which won the Grammy Award in the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance category) and "Rock with You".

Michael Jackson now ties with Whitney Houston for having the most certified Diamond albums by a black artist with three.

RIAA: Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" & "Thriller" Singles Certified Diamond + 4 Other Certifications

 

Just recently the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) updated their sales certifications for albums and singles that have reached Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum and Diamond in the US.

Joining it's 34x Diamond certified parent album Thriller are Michael Jackson's iconic singles "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" which have both achieved Diamond sales for 10 million units sold.

Also "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)", "Beat It", "The Lady In My Life" and  "The Girl Is Mine" ft. Paul McCartney from the Thriller album have received new certifications as well.
