Whitney Houston Becomes the First Black Artist to Achieve Three Diamond-Certified Albums


According to an Associated Press report, the Legendary Whitney Houston has officially reached diamond status for her second studio album Whitney which was released in 1987 and features four No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles: "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)", "Didn't We Almost Have It All", "So Emotional" & "Where Do Broken Hearts Go".

Whitney is Houston's third album to achieve this impressive milestone after her self-titled debut and The Bodyguard Soundtrack, making her the first black artist male or female to achieve this.

Next week, Houston will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony alongside fellow icons in music such as The Notorious B.I.G. & Depeche Mode.
