Brandy Norwood Promoted To Series Regular On Season 3 Of Fox's Star

 Congratulations are in order for Grammy award-winning singer and actress Brandy Norwood. According to Deadline, Brandy Norwood, who recurred on Season 2 of Fox’s hit show Star, has now been promoted to series regular on Season 3. At the end of Season 2, viewers were unsure if Norwood would be returning. The season closed with Norwood’s character Cassie Brown caught in a gun drawn confrontation with her sister Carlotta Brown, who’s played by Queen Latifah. Viewers can now rest assured that Cassie Brown will be gracing their television screens this fall. Brandy took to her social media to show her gratitude. Last week it was announced that Season 3 of Star will air September 26th.

New Music: August Greene (Feat. Brandy) - 'Optimistic'

The newly formed band August Greene comprised of rap legend Common, pianist Robert Glasper and drummer Karriem Riggins shared their first single “Optimistic” today on SoundCloud. The song is a remake of Sounds of Blackness’ 1991 hit “Optimistic” and features R&B vet Brandy Norwood. “Optimistic” is the lead single from their debut self-titled album August Greene, which is expected to be released on March 9th.

This is not the first time the members of August Greene created magic together. Last year, they won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for their "Letter to the Free" from the Ava DuVernay's documentary 13th.

Hopefully, a music video for "Optimistic" will be following soon. Glasper hinted in an Instagram video posted on Jan. 10th. that they were at a video shoot,  with the caption "studio, video fun..coming your way sooner than you think..."
